Get Internet TV through Windows Media Center

Microsoft launches US on-demand television service to rival Joost - By Richard Keith
By James Stables on 04 October 2007

US users can now access over 100 hours of television content through Microsoft’s new service, Internet TV.

Launched as a direct competitor to services like Joost, where users can watch online content for free on their PC, Internet TV aims to bring the service into the living room.

Internet TV is available to US customers through Windows Update, and is listed as a service in Windows Media Center. This means that users will be able to stream the on-demand content to their TV using a media extender such as the Xbox 360, giving Internet TV an advantage over Joost.

So far Microsoft has secured music concerts, movie trailers and full episodes of the excellent US series ‘Arrested Development.’ High-definition content will also be a prominent feature of the new service.

The beta is available for download now, but unfortunately for the non-US world, there is no word on international release.

You forgot to add a very important piece of information to your header "Get Internet TV through Windows Media Center" you should have added "In The US!" Then that would have saved me wasting 5 minutes of my time reading an irrelevant article.

Did it really take you 5 minutes?

The consequence of your question?

I was merely questioning the amount of time you say it took you to read such a short article.

Even if it did take 5 minutes. Was it really worth complaining about?

As for wasting your time, I guess you missed the clues.

1 Microsoft launches US on-demand television service

2 US users can now access over 100 hours of television

I'm very impressed. As with most Media Center programs it takes awhile to get going and sometimes freezes but it's a top notch program and the best thing Windows has ever done with Media Center.

I am new to your magazine and I am very happy I took the time to carefully read the articles. I used Windows Media Center only a few days ago to watch a DVD and did not notice this upgrade. What a fantastic idea! And just as the reader wrote, it works; much better than I anticipated for a new application. Looking forward to more viewing additions.

Good article to bring awareness to this great net service from MICROSOFT. I'm really starting to like these guys. I just stumbled upon Internet TV the other night when I was familiarizing myself with Media Center. I find more and more out about Media Center every day. There is really much more to it than meets the eye.
