User Account Control

"Annoying by Design"? Change it!
By PCastoldi on 18 June 2008

The UAC (Or, User Account Control) is a security feature that si present in all versions of Windows Vista and is used to protect the user of changing/downloading any items by first prompting them of the change before it happens, in case the user has changed something unintentionally. However, if you are one of the Windows Vista Users that say that the "Vista Security is Annoying by Deisgn" then you can change that, byt simply turning of the UAC in Vista. Here is how to do so:

Deactivating/Activating the UAC In Windows Vista (All Versions)

1. Go to the Control Panel in the Start Menu

2. Once in the Control Panel, go to User Accounts and Family Saftey and click it

3. Then, click User Accounts and in the list of items find where it says "Turn User Account Control on or off"

4. You should have a menu with a checkbox that reads the following: "Use User Account Control (UAC) to help protect your computer" and there should be a checkbox with a checkmark. Uncheck this checkbox

5. Click OK

6. You will then be given a prompt to restart your computer now or later - you must restart in order for the changes to take effect. Click your prefrence

If you find yourself stumbling upon menus and settings that you do not want to change on your PC and want to re-activate the User Account Control, you can do so. To do this, follow the steps allocated above and instead of un-checking the checkbox just check it instead.
