Top five laptop accidents

Has your notebook fallen foul to one of these mobile mishaps?
By James Stables on 31 October 2007

During the design of the latest Toughbook, Panasonic did a little research into the main causes of laptop death.

The results of the study means that the new Toughbook range protects against the main causes of damage, meaning even the clumsiest user can’t ruin their laptop.

Here’s the list of top offenders, and if you have destroyed your laptop in weird or wonderful ways, please let us know in the comments section:

1. Dropping while carrying
2. Liquid spill
3. Falling from desk while in use
4. Crushed by luggage or other objects
5. Electrical power surge

The new Toughbook 7series, released in November, comes equipped with Windows Vista Business and protects against all of the above accidents.

The notebooks are “ruggedized”, to protect the unit from drops up to 76cm, water spillages with its own drainage system, and pressure up to 100KG.

Break one, I challenge you!
