Virtual PC: Run Windows XP and/or other legacy OS within Vista
Virtualization, multiple Operating Systems, Vista and XP
By chrisws@hotmail.com on 27 March 2007
Windows Vista is now my primary O.S. at home. However, I still find it useful switching to Windows XP for various reasons: some legacy applications are only available on XP, clients/co-workers have not switched over to Vista and need XP assistance, and work projects done on XP.
Besides creating multiple partitions or using another XP PC, Microsoft has come through with a free download of Virtual PC 2007. Now, we simply install other Operating Systems within Vista through the virtualization technology. No seperate partitions or PCs needed! Just make sure you have enough RAM. As per the Virtual Machine 2007 overview, the table below shows the RAM and HD requirements.
