Windows Media Player 11 problems solved
If you’re experiencing stuttering on playback, we have the answer
By James Stables on 06 July 2007
A few weeks ago my music playback experience, which had been so blissful in Windows Vista, was rudely interrupted by an annoying stutter.
This stutter would take place exactly 20 seconds before the end of a track, when another was queued and ready to play.
Even worse was that when you chose a new track, Windows Media Player would take ages to load a tracks and be generally slow for no apparent reason.
If you’re having a similar problem, you will be glad to know there is a very simple fix.
Simply go to Control Panel > Sound and select the playback tag. Click on the speakers option and then properties.
In this menu is a tag called enhancements, and a check box labeled Disable all enhancements. Put a check in this box and your playback problems will be solved.
I’m not sure of the science behind this, but my aural enjoyment has returned to 10/10.
