How to use Vista command prompt to reduce the space used by ''system restore''
By wisostic on 29 July 2008
As you all know system restore use about 15% space on our hard disk drive for its backup files also called ''SHADOW STORAGE''. Also for a single system restore you need a minimum of 300MB which in my opion is massive as i do not like programs or files eating up my disk space. Lets cut the long story short by.....
pressing windows key>type in command prompt>activate it, or if you prefer the old fashion way click start>all programs>accessories>command prompt type
Vssadmin Resize ShadowStorage /for=C: /Maxsize={n}
{N} stands for the appropriate size you would like to assign in MB or GB. The unit must be stated
for example Maxsize=100MB or 100GB
NOTE: once activated this will delete all old restore points your system have created
I hope this info will be useful to all those who prefer using the command prompt to carry out system activities
