Export contacts to Microsoft Excel

By dbarson on 10 June 2007

Hi, I want to export my contacts to Microsoft Excel and I'm using the following helpfile in Vista:

  1. Click to open Windows Contacts

  2. On the toolbar, click Export, and then click one of the following formats:

  3. CSV (Comma Separated Values). This is a generic file format used for exporting or importing information to and from databases or spreadsheets.

  4. vCard (folder of .vcf files). This format is used by many other programs. It is typically the best format to use when sharing contacts with someone who is using an earlier version of Windows or who is using a different operating system.

  5. Click Export, select a folder where you want to store your contacts in the new format, and then click OK.

  6. When a message appears telling you that the contacts export process has completed, click OK, and then click Close

Unfortunately, I dont have the "Export" button on the toolbar, as described in step 2. Can anyone tell me where to find it?

Cheers

Darren

The problem here is that Vista has changed the customisation of the contacts folder.

Within the folder, right click in white space & choose "Customise This Folder..." then choose Contacts as the template type. This should restore the contacts functions.

This works for any folder which isn't behaving as it should.
