Bioshock 2?

Well as close as you’re going to get for now, anyway
By NickO on 05 December 2007

Bioshock – the game that caused a violent stir in mid 2007 – might seem like last year’s news now, but it’s making a welcome comeback.

On 4 December, Bioshock’s creators – 2K Games – released an update which added some great new features sadly missing from the original, the most significant of these being four new plasmids and tonics.

These include:

-  Sonic Boom and Sonic Boom 2; which gives you the power to push people around, just like a Jedi.
-  Eve Saver; meaning less EVE used by Plasmids
-  Machine Buster and Machine Buster 2; allows you to do more damage to turrets, cameras and bots
-  Vending Expert and Vending Expert 2; so stuff from vending machiners costs less

There are also a bunch of much-needed fixes that come with the update, which should appease those of us who had all sorts of graphical and audio problems when we first bought it.

This all sounds good, but is it too little, too late? Will the updates motivate you to play the game all the way through again?

I’ll be updating this blog in a day or two when I’ve had a chance to re-install Bioshock, try out the new features and post my thoughts on them, along with some pretty pictures.

The full list of changes and fixes, along with the downloadable patch can be found at the web site here http://www.2kgames.com/bioshock/support/
