HELLLPPPPP XBOX 360 TO VISTA DESKTOP

By Wal on 28 October 2007

My son has an Xbox 36o and a wireless enabled desktop pc in his bedroom. My wireless router is downstairs. I want to link my sons xbox 360 to his desktop and use the desktops wireless internet connection to access Xbox Live. Any help would be gratefully recceived.

This isn't possible, but you can purchase an XBox 360 wireless network adapter for this purpose...

The thing is you have a wireless router and desktop, and if you try to connect your son's Xbox wirelessly as well, you will need to buy a wireless adaptor for the Xbox, however it is not the ultimate solution in this case as I tried it before and wasn’t working as I would expect.

Running on Vista with the following hardware: Xbox 360, D-link N Extreme Router, and D-Link Wireless Range Booster N Desktop Adapter (DWA-542):

The Xbox connect to the network ok, but every time it tries to connect to the media centre or to the internet it fails, and I think the router and the wireless card for the desk top were not powerful enough to do that.

So here is what you need to do, instead of buying the wireless adaptor for the xbox, go and buy “Netgear HDX101 Gaming PS3 Powerline HD Ethernet Adapter” this is an awesome solution and works great with xbox, xbox 360 and very good with streaming online video, digital media from your pc , and online gaming and it what I have installed right now. What it does it sends the internet signal over the regular electric power outlet from the router to the other device that you want to connect to the network (in this case the xbox). You will need to buy 2 units and sometimes they are on sale as a kit with two units, or u can buy two unites separately, however u need two units anyway.
I hope this be of help
