No new desktop wallpapers with Service Pack 1?

Don’t worry – Microsoft has released these great desktops to go with its latest update
By NickO on 02 April 2008

When Service Pack 1 was released last month, it came with hundreds of updates, but the majority of them were 'under the hood' improvements.

Some of us were hoping that Microsoft were going to supply us with some interesting updates that we could see, like new gadgets or DreamScene desktops, but alas – nothing happened.

In fairness, Microsoft Service Packs have historically been about making its operating system function better, but a little bit of eye-candy to go along with each Service Pack would keep customers even happier.

Having said this, Microsoft has just put up a bunch of really professional-looking desktop wallpapers on its website at www.microsoft.com/singapore/windows/bliss/default.mspx, which you can download today.

Once you’ve downloaded ones you like, put them in your Pictures folder. Then right-click your desktop, and in the drop-down menu, click on Personalize.

Then click on Desktop Background, select Pictures from the drop-down box, and choose your desktop wallpaper by clicking on it.

Or you can put the wallpapers into the proper directory:

C:\Windows\Web\Wallpaper

Hope that helps : )
