USB Flash Drive Issues ... HELP!!!!

By niksta32 on 04 June 2007

I am having serious issues with Windows Vista , I'm about to throw the laptop out the door! Every flash card I insert into the USB port does not work. It says it has to install driver software then searches. It then asks me to insert a disc, as flash drives don't come with a disc it fails to install the flash drive and I am unable to use it. I am a novice with windows vista but I don't see how everything I plug into my laptop never works with windows vista. Hope someone out there can help.

It sounds like you need to find the correct chipset drivers for your laptop's motherboard. What model is it? As a side note, a query such as this would probably work better in our Message Boards section :)

Just select the option in the wizard that tells it to look under Windows/system32 for the driver. It will almost certainly be there

I had a similar problem with one specific 4Gb Stick (although it worked in other Vista systems, and other sticks worked here). The solution was to uninstall the Mass Storage Device driver in Device Manager, and then re-install it immediately (Vista did this automatically when I inserted the stick). Since then I've had no problems.

IF EVERYTHING YOU PLUG IN TO THE USB ASKS FOR A DRIVER- WAIT AND BE PATIENT- THEN SELECT BROWSE- PASTE C:\Windows\System32 THEN WAIT!!! THATS IT- ALL DONE!

Hello kidcrow90!
If my post does not work then your ps2 software is not compatible with vista yet.
Contact ps and ask them do the have an update.
Cheers

hi all i fix computers for a living and have come across this problem myself if nothing works through usb ports just messages saying insert disc its probably either one of the solutions above or possibly there is a corrupt file ussualy this one USBSTOR.SYS IN THE C DRIVE,WINDOWS,SYSTEM32, DRIVERS,USBSTOR.SYS. if this is the case its a simple fix just get a copy from another computer and paste into said folder overwriting the orginal file ps i can email the file you ou get stuck best of luck.
