Symantec have released a fix for Norton Internet Security 2007. It now works on Vista. You have to go to the Symantec website and download the Vista update for your version of Symantec software.

hey man, i have to tell you that i was very very bitter towards norton in the past, but this time i think they hit the nail on its head, because i got my notebook pc about 51 days ago, and my norton is about to expire, and i plan on either purchasing it or bumming it because i was VERY impressed with how smooth it ran in the background, and how it saved me a ton of times from getting infected, especially when vista was vunerable and new. so dont be biased like when i was aboard the ANTI-NORTONwasthevirus train :) Yall have a wonderful day!

Joe it does work you have to download the patch from the symantec website. I know I am running it on my work computer running Vista. I can also vouch for Norton Internet Security 2007 as it is running on Vista on one of my home computers. Check out the support options on the Symantec website or give them a call.

Norton internet security 2007 makes system restore point unobtainable in vista and xp the only way to be able to use restore points is to use safe mode having two p/c one running xp the other vista I can confirm this is so

All I am pointing out is that Norton now works on Vista. Its up to the individual what sort of security they put on their PC. But I have never had a problem with the system restore on any PC running Norton Internet Security. Maybe its a configuration issue? But anyway I'm just telling people the software now works on Vista.

Pity they didn't get an update ready for Norton Ghost 10. Cannot reload the complete XP drive backup I made onto external HDD so that I can revert to that. The reason being I cannot register or get updates for Vista because my Buffalo PCI wireless card doesn't have an update either and the XP drivers will not load. What a shables.

Fraser Its worth dropping Buffalo an e-mail to see if they are going to produce a driver. If not ditch it and get a Vista compatible one. Good luck mate.

Hi Ernie, I did that immediatly and this was the unhelpful reply I got on 8th February. I replied to that with the remark that a company such as Buffalo should be more pro-active than that - not a good advertisement........

"Dear Customer,
At this moment in time Windows Vista is unsupported. We are working on it however we have not been given a time frame on when this will be completed.
We understand that this is frustrating for you but unfortunately there is nothing further we can do at this time.

I'm sorry this has moved a bit off topic but these things get inter-related. The idea of ditching Buffalo sounds good but which wireless cards/routers are compatible with Vista? Look through the pages of retailers like Dabs, Misco, Novatech etc and they don't give you a clue. Most makers I've looked at are no better.

I still do use NIS, their firewall is very good. Didn't upgrade to Vista yet though... But if it will continue working on Vista that's certainly a kind of good news.

Just to let someone know...I used Norton, years ago, and had problems. Won't get into it, but it was a total mess, crashes, etc. Support STINKS. Will say they have improved, a little, since. I got a new HP Med Cntr (custom build) & well able to handle anything. It had a Norton Int Sec 2006 installed. It was OK, not the best. Was impressed with looks & features, and I'll add that it saved me once or twice, however, upon loading Vista Ultimate, ALL went haywire!! Tried various ways to fix, even tried the "Patch" which disconnected me, THEN UNINSTALLED!! the program (of course, leaving behind bits and pieces, for which I had to use the "Removal" tool. Once that was done, I'm told to contact the manufacturer (HP) to try to get it back (I had 391 days left on my 15 mos sub). All is gone, NOT WORTH THE HASSELL!! Didn't want Norton anyway! I'm now trying Windows One Care (I've read pros & cons),and I'm VERY Pleased!! It's ALL automatic if you want it that way. Real nice & all is PERFECT. I'm excited the way Vista is running. Never had anything better. So...for what it's worth, thinks about what I've said, from my expierience. I've tried to be objective, but I won't use Norton, if I don't have to.

ewww...I tried one-step. That's about all it is...one step. I cannot nor will not trust anything that doesn't provide feedback as to what it is doing. THe progress bar didn't work and I MUST add, it never picked up on anything at all, be it spyware or what. Good Luck with that!

i have been a mcaffee user for years. i had problems in the past with norton. recently i bought a new laptop with windows vista. i also bought a new version of mcaffee. when i installed mcaffee it said there were compatibility issues,but that i could go to mcaffee's website and resolve them. sounds simple enough, right? after installing, the system would start up, tell me there was a critical error and had to shut down. i had to go in safe mode and uninstall mcaffee. i reinstalled norton and all seems to be fine for now. as far as vista goes, they should have stopped at xp. i am really sorry i went with vista.

I purchased Norton system works premier 2006 to run on more than one computer 3 months ago.After my trusty old Dell burst into flames i replaced the base unit with a Mesh and Vista Home Premium.Now i can't use Norton on my system because its not compatable,but i am advised to buy the 2007 version even though i have already paid good money for 2006.

I bought a new HP Pavilion with Vista today at CompUSA and the salesman talked me into buying Internet Security 2007. What an incredible waste of time! The program refused to install because it wasn't compatible. I eventually got to CompUSA tech support, who were unable to help me after an hour on the phone. I downloaded the patch from Symantec but it would not finish the configuration step. Spent 45 min's on phone to talk to a Symantec rep, Abdul, in Pakistan who wasted another 30 min's trying to help me get it installed. Finally threw my hands up, deinstalled it, and installed Microsoft One Care which was a seamless installation and works great. Don't buy IS2007 until there is a Vista seal on the front cover, unless you just enjoy holding the phone to your ears for hours.

Norton Internet Security 2007 to get it to work just download the updated installer from Symantec. On installation put in your account details and it should work fine. I have no problems with it running on Vista Ultimate. Remember the updated installer will only work on retail released Vista. A better option would be to opt for Norton 360. Or keep with the Microsoft One Care.

I've tried them all. My personal choice is ZoneAlarm Internet Security. It has many warning popups when first installed but if you understand the nature behind these popups and how to use them to your advantage they present no annoyances. If you don't understand them you need to educate yourself as to what the software is doing and why. If you know how to configure a firewall you will not see many popups. However, ZoneAlarm apparently feels no need to provide their customers with a Vista capable edition. I have also used Norton 360 and Norton Internet Security Suite 2007 on Vista. I had no problems. If you are having problems I would suggest you have a compatibility problem with existing software or a configuration issue. I am using Windows Live One Care at this time while I await the release of the new ZoneAlarm Internet Security Suite. It gives me much more control than other security software. Just a personal preference, mind you.

I too had difficulties with Norton 2006 so bought Norton 360, this is set up for Vista, no problems installing or running 360.

Hi All. Have just joined and read all your comments on Norton.
Over the past 12 months I have assisted many friends with REMOVING Norton. It does nothing but hog resources or at least thats the impression it has always given, even when given more than its fair share of memory.
But the biggest problem I see from all of this is, Norton has a massive market attendance, a lot of pc end sellers offer it as a bolt on, most pc's have it pre-installed, google offer a free Norton Scan facility within their google pack, yet Norton in their infinite wisdom do not seem interested in correcting problems or giving their huge audiance the time of day. It makes you wonder if some companies become too big for their boots and think 'well we have made it, what does it matter if we upset one or two hundred people'. Well it seems to matter to most of the people I talk to and help with their systems and guess what...? They are no longer with Norton!

To those of you that have never had any problems and enjoy using the services of Norton, congratulations and very good luck, I really do hope it lasts for you all.

Hi All. Quite a few years back, I tried Norton and didn't like the way it took over the PC so installed McAfee and have used it ever since. However, at the beginning of 2007, I bought an HP laptop with Vista as the OEM OS and needed a multi-licence suite; Norton fit the bill so bought it. Uninstalled McAfee and installed NIS 2007 on both my XP and Vista machines. NIS is flawless on the Vista laptop but has an error when performing LiveUpdate on the XP machine. Many, many messages between myself and Symantec have not resolved the issue despite a number of un-installs and re-installs, plus re-directs to various pages on the Symnatec website. Whilst very frustrating, the software appears to be working on both computers and I'm living with the error messages on the XP machine. It doesn't leave a satisfied feeling after forking out £60 for the 2-licence software; maybe I should have paid the extra £40 for the 3-licence version of McAfee's Total Protection as I've never had a single problem with their products.

norton internet security 2007. wow what a joke. it comes part of my packard bell vista software bundle yes it slooows the pc down. and it so sloooow scanning and not all its crakced up to be. avoid at all costs.
