By James Stables on 12 December 2007
After months of build up and speculation, it's finally here.
Windows Vista Service Pack 1 has been released to the public, all be it an early version, in preparation for the final version which should be available in January 2008.
As the current release candidate is still not finished, Microsoft recommends that you back up your data before installing, and read the notes before installing.
There are hundreds of improvements in Service Pack 1, many of which have already been released via Windows Update.
You can view the list of updates and the problems they fix here, and download the Service Pack here.
