Tag Those Digital Photos !!
By beckyh on 01 February 2007
Scenario: You have been on holiday and have come back with 100 or so photos that you want to rename so you can find them again. Instead of laboriously renaming them, you can now tag them in big job lots in the new Windows Photo Gallery.
So for example you can highlight all pictures of boats and tag them with “boats” and then when you search for boats in your zillions of photos, it will bring up all the boat pictures for you. You can have as many tags as you like for individual photos. So if you have a picture of your friend Bob on a boat you can tag it with “Bob” and “boat” and it will be searchable in both sections. Not only that but if you click on start on the start bar and search for boats, it will list all your boat photos.
There is quite an emphasis on better file management in Vista and hopefully this new tagging system will enable people to organise their photos much better and furthermore to prevent loss of precious photos. I for one knows how it feels to format my machine and forget about a bunch of photos tucked away in a far off folder somewhere. Those photos have gone forever. At least now I can organise everything in one place much easier and hopefully will not have regrettable losses anymore.
