Xbox 360 to get price cut across Europe
Entry-level price point of £159.99 designed to tempt new customers on Friday 14 March
By Matthew Hanson on 10 March 2008
14 March is going to be a great time to get an Xbox 360 to go with you Windows Vista PC as a Media Center Extender as Microsoft lowers the price for all versions of its Xbox 360 console.
From Friday 14 March the price for an Xbox 360 Premium that includes a 20GB hard drive and one wireless controller will drop from £249.99 to £199.99, whilst the price of an Xbox 360 Elite, with a 120GB hard drive, will sell for £259.99 down from £299.99. For those of you who are interested in the Xbox 360 complimenting your Windows Vista PC you can grab an Xbox 360 Arcade, which is perfect for streaming music and videos from your PC, for only £159.99.
Chris Lewis, Vice President, Microsoft Interactive Entertainment Business Europe, believes that “history shows that £159.99 is the price point where a console’s audience begins to expand, and with these new [estimated retail prices] in place we’re ready to bring more consumers into the Xbox 360 world.”
Not only does the Xbox 360 have over 1,000 games currently available, it also has the Live Video Store, where users can download high definition movies straight to their front rooms, and the ability to connect wirelessly to share content with Media Center and Windows Vista PCs. All three versions of the console have their own different features, allowing you to choose which one suits your needs the best, and the sub-£200 price tag should help convince people to take the plunge into high definition entertainment.
