7 reasons why no one is reading your blog

Published on 08 September 2007

1. Monosyllabic matters

Your words are hard to digest, so readers quickly get bored. Use short, light sentences to explain yourself, or use bullet points so that people can quickly access the info they want to read.

2. Headline hysteria

Your headlines are rubbish, so people don’t even bother reading the rest. Take inspiration from popular blog headlines, or get some tips at Copyblogger.

3. Digg this

You haven’t reached out to others for help. Submit links to digg or Fark for maximum hits on your blog.

4. I'm in ur blog editing ur spellin

Your spelling is terrible. A blog may well be a trendy way of documenting stuff, but you can’t just churn words out. You need to consider the spelling and grammar, or the text will be too tricky to read.

5. Spread the love

You’ve not put yourself on the market. Link to other people’s blogs and they may reciprocate by linking back to you: build relationships with other bloggers.

6. Something to talk about

Your blog just isn’t that interesting. Try to write about something unique, and remember – try to be a little conversational and controversial; it gets people talking.

7. Pretty pictures

It’s visually dull. Don’t just rely on words to get your point across; people like to see pictures and videos to illustrate what they’re reading.
