6 steps to creating a great newsletter!

It's easy to make nice looking email newsletters in Microsoft Office Word 2007
Published on 06 May 2007

1. Word Power

Open a blank document and write your text. Don’t worry about adding formatting, such as headlines, as you go – simply write your text and make sure you’re happy with it. No amount of formatting will fix badly written words!

2. Style it up

Now you can choose a style for your text using the Change Styles button on the right-hand side of the Microsoft Office Fluent interface and selecting Style Set. Hover over each option to get a preview before you select one.

3. Build it up

Now you can style the headlines and subheadings using the options at the top of the window. You can also change fonts and colours individually, but don’t mix too many – the best design is usually the simplest.

4. Add Some Colour

To make your newsletter stand out, choose a background colour by clicking Page Layout and then Page Color. You can choose from the chosen colours or click More Colors to create your own. Again, be subtle.

5. Add a picture

Every newsletter benefits from a picture or two so we’ve added a photo. Go to Insert then click Picture and resize it and drag it to where you want it. Right-click the picture to choose how the text wraps around the image.

6. All Done

Voila! A great mailout in minutes. Use the Page Layout button to change the number of columns. If you’re short of inspiration just create a new document, pick Newsletters and download templates from Microsoft Office Online.
