I’m having trouble burning video DVDs. What can I do?

Published on 24 January 2007

First, check your DVD burner is working correctly by opening Device Manager (click Start > Control Panel, select System and Maintenance and click Device Manager). If it is, check the video files themselves are working correctly by playing them in Windows Media Player. Finally, when burning your DVD, click Options on the “Add pictures to the video and DVD page” in Windows DVD Maker and choose Medium or Slow in the “DVD burner speed” box.

Vista DVD Maker is no longer working correctly, I was able to put together a DVD a few ago without any problems.

I then had to restore my PC back to Factory setting with XP and then reinstall Vista since then the DVD Maker has not worked.

The problem I am having is that it freezes when I either select a menu style or when I preview the menu style, order if I just burn the movie to DVD it encodes for about 5% then locks up error msg Stopped worked and then restarts, does this all the time.

Please help, how can I resolve the problem.
