Vote for your favourite game in the 26th annual Golden Joystick Awards
By Matthew Hanson on Wednesday, August 13, 2008
Voting has begun for the 26th annual Golden Joystick Awards, and one of the most hotly-contested categories is the Virgin Media Ultimate Game of the Year. If you have played a game released in the last 12 months that you feel deserves this accolade, go to www.goldenjoystick.com and cast your vote. Last year’s top award went to Gears of War for the PC and Xbox 360.
Thousands of voters have already narrowed the shortlist from 400 games down to just 15, which include Portal and Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare.
In the end only one game can be crowned the Virgin Media Ultimate Game of the Year, and your vote can help make the difference. Flagship PC games such as Age of Conan and Portal are up against stiff competition from games such as Super Mario Galaxy for the Wii and Metal Gear Solid 4 for the PlayStation 3, so make sure you submit your vote for the game you feel should be awarded the top honour.
There are also plenty of other categories for you to vote in, such as UK Developer of the Year, PC Game of the Year and Online Game of the Year. If you own any consoles, then you can vote for your favourite games for those systems as well.
The shortlist for PC game of the year is:
Age of Conan: Hyborian Adventures
Assassin’s Creed
BioShock
Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare
Crysis
Enemy Territory: Quake Wars
Football Manager 2008
Gears of War
Half-Life 2 Episode 2
Mass Effect
Portal
Team Fortress 2
The Witcher
Unreal Tournament 3
Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War – Soulstorm
The Golden Joystick Awards, together with Virgin Media, is broadcast live on Friday 31 October from 12.30pm at www.goldenjoystick.com. There are some great prizes up for grabs if you submit your votes, including Wii and Xbox 360 consoles, Sony TVs, magazine subscriptions and games featured in the shortlists.
