Microsoft enjoyed its biggest year of growth since 1999, recording a turnover of $60bn in the fiscal year from July 2007 to June 2008.
The vast profits were helped by Windows Vista hitting 180 million licenses sold since its launch in January 2007, and continuing to build on its record-breaking popularity.
Microsoft enjoyed 18 per cent more growth than in the fiscal year to June 2007, with Windows Vista, Xbox 360, Microsoft Office 2007 system and Games for Windows titles all proving popular.
