vista start menu problem

By ljiljana on Thursday, July 24, 2008

I have .url file - internet shortcut on my start menu named Online spyware test which I probably got through a spyware infection on the net. I can not delete it - a massage shows up saying I need special permission for deleteing it...I use Norton antivirus and Ad - aware antispyware and i had a few infections ....
Please help me....does this shortcut means that i still have an infection on my laptop and why I can not delete it...although I tried with save mode, cameleon manager etc...nothing works....:(
Thanks a lot!

Try zapping it with Unlocker to get past the authorization problem. Get it here:

http://fileforum.betanews.com/detail/Unlocker/1115825635/1

After installing (it works fine with Vista), right click on the link and Unlocker will be in the R Clk menu. Select unlocker and choose to delete the link. You may have to reboot to get it deleted.

McAfee Stinger or File Assassin may also eliminate it.
