Forget fireworks - here are ten incredible games you need to play in November

Get saving those pennies because this is going to be a winter to remember!
By NickO on Tuesday, October 30, 2007

It’s an old cliché, but you can never get a bus when you want one, and then five come along at once. Well, the games industry isn't much different.

2007 has been pretty dry as far as good games releases have been concerned. We’ve had Bioshock, and err, that’s about it really, though no doubt this is partly due to the transition from DirectX 9.0 to DirectX 10.

Things are set to change during November though, because 10 of the finest games we’ve seen in quite a while are making their way to the shops this month.

So, here are a selection of games being released in the next month, and a couple that are out already. Make sure you put these in your ‘must buy’ list because they all look set to be contenders for best game of the year…

Gears of War

The Witcher

Hellgate: London

Unreal Tournament III

Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare

Crysis

Half Life 2: The Orange Box

Pro Evolution 2008

TimeShift

Empire Earth III

What No Halo???? HALO 3 Rules. Just a great game.

From what my fellow Xbox 360 gamers tell me, Halo 3 isn't as good as the hype suggests, so I'm not really that excited about it. It will take a good few more months to come out and by then it will be old and unloved; a bit like Halo 2 was when it came out on the PC.

PES2008 is quite good.

I'm downloading parts of the Orange Box as I got the 'Black Box' voucher with my HD2900XT.

Looking forward to Nov 16th - CRYSIS!!!, the SP Demo has stunning graphics but punishes my system (note to self: must buy a second HD2900XT!).

I'm just about to get a £2k gaming laptop so that I'll be ready to test all these games, but I reckon even that will be slightly lacking in the graphics department for Crysis.

NickO,

Crysis is punishing my mates SLI'd 8800GTX machine (although he is driving a 30" Dell!)with a Q6600.

COD4 looks good and Team Fortress 2 is hilarious.
